Senior Full-Stack Engineer
As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer, you will be a key part of our mission: to create learning experiences that deliver extraordinary outcomes for companies and their people. This role is crucial to our mission to scale, innovate, and grow as a purpose-led learning technology business.
About the role
Responsibilities and Duties
Design, develop, and maintain scalable frontend and backend applications and services.
Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality, user-centered solutions.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code and participate in code reviews to ensure reliability and knowledge sharing.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues, bugs, and production incidents across the application stack.
Contribute to architecture discussions, technical documentation, and engineering best practices.
Communicate progress, risks, and key milestones transparently with stakeholders.
Stay informed of emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve products and engineering processes.
Mentor fellow engineers and contribute to a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture.
A Candidate Will Demonstrate
Proven experience:
Typically 6–10 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record of building production-grade software and scalable web applications. Equivalent experience and demonstrated technical expertise will also be considered.
Technical expertise:
Strong full-stack engineering experience and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies. We work across a variety of technologies and projects, and candidates are not expected to have experience with every technology listed below.
Examples of technologies and domains we commonly work with include:
Frontend development using React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
Backend development using Laravel, Python, Flask, Django, or similar frameworks.
Containerized applications and deployments using Docker and related technologies.
Relational databases and ORMs, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLAlchemy, and advanced SQL optimization.
REST APIs, GraphQL, authentication, asynchronous workflows, and distributed systems.
Background processing patterns such as scheduled jobs and message queues.
Cloud platforms and services, including AWS technologies.
Third-party integrations, observability, identity, communications, and AI services.
Troubleshooting and debugging using logging, stack traces, performance analysis, and developer tools.
Project ownership:
Ability to take ownership of features and solutions from concept through production while balancing technical excellence and business objectives.
Technical leadership:
Experience working in Agile environments, mentoring engineers, influencing technical decisions, and driving engineering best practices.
Communication:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Education:
A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is advantageous but not required.
